Have you ever seen that bumper sticker that says "Jesus would have been a Democrat"? Sometimes I wonder about that. Republicans continue to try to act as if they cornered the market on family values and some even call it the "Religious Right". But the party has a whole doesn't follow the fundamental believes of Jesus Christ. I grew up attending a very conservative, small town, Methodist church. But as I grew up, I was very liberal in thought. Over the years I've learned to continue to praise The Lord, but follow my heart when it comes to worldly things.
My liberal outlook compared to that of other church goers actually caused me not to attend church for a 3 year span in my late teens-early twenties. To return back to church, I had to overlook the people of the church, and look to the reason I was really there...to worship The Lord. Some may say my beliefs are contradictions, but I think any good Christian's views would be. Not saying that I am a "good Christian". I battle the devil on a daily basis, and he wins quite a bit. But the people that I know that claim to live by the bible, are mostly on a high and mighty trip. The only thing they can give their fellow man is a bible verse. Don't get me wrong. Many a day a good bible verse has gotten me through, but you should also know when to do more.
If you're wondering what exactly my beliefs are that some may say would interfere with my Christianity? Well, I don't believe in the death penalty under any circumstances...which actually I believe Jesus would agree with. I would like gay marriage legalized. I don't think religion should be taught in school. That's what Christian schools are for. And I don't believe people of other religions are wrong in their teachings. Here's the biggy? Are you ready? I am pro-choice. And I'm not pro-choice only in cases of rape or illness. I am pro-choice in any situation where the mother and father feel they can't give that little child everything that every little baby deserves.
I love the Lord. And my ultimate goal as a Christian is to bring at least one person to Christ before I die. But my ultimate goal as a citizen of the world is to not bombard others with my beliefs and values. To give everyone a choice in what they do as long as it does not harm others. God gave us free will...but those Conservative Christians think they are more powerful than God. They think they can control what you do with your body. Control who you can marry. Control which religion is accepted and "mainstream". This was not God's plan. Jesus was accepting of everyone, but so called Conservative Christians aren't. If we go completely by the bible, slavery would be ok. Polygamy would be accepted. Do we want to go back to those days?

Message to John McCain and George W Bush
I would really like a show of hands of how many of us making $75,000 and under really care if the rich have higher taxes. Do I hear crickets? McCain and Bush keep promoting this falsehood that lower taxes for the rich helps the rest of us. I realize that they are very wealthy and so do not realize what it is really like for the rest of us...but it very rarley trickles down.
Take minimum wage for example. Until recently, minimum wage had been the same $5.15 since 1997. That's about the price of a McDonald's Extra Value Meal. Allocating for inflation, minimum wage actually shrank 20% during that time. The small businesses that Bush and McCain were supposedly looking out for have increased the prices of their goods and services substantially, but have not paid their workers more. Trust us McCain...it doesn't trickle down. It actually trickles up. The CEO's are getting 7-8 diget bonuses while the workers are getting laid off.
That was just FYI for you wealthy Republicans. I'm tired of typing now.

Cindy McCain...Our First "Woman"?
As you can see from the title, I do not believe Cindy McCain is a lady. That's too generous. I have always had a bad feeling about this woman. Well, since McCain was the front-runner for the nomination. She has the look of the unaware and unconcerned. The record of a crackhead and a mistress. Not to mention she's made some statements directed at my SBF (secret best friend...ie Michelle Obama). The last point alone is enough for me not to like you. As if I could not dislike her anymore...I go to my fav site...Huffington Post...and I find a link to an article from my favorite radio station...NPR. Here's the link . It's an interesting read. I personally think it tells you a lot about who you are letting into the White House.
My grandmother always said you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his mother. I broaden that statement to include any woman in his family. I had a boyfriend that argued with his sister all the time, but when her boyfriend hit her...he rushed to the boyfriends house ad kicked his butt. The reasoning behind grandmother's theory is...if you don't look out for family, you won't look out for anybody. If Cindy McCain doesn't acknowledge her sister, nor share her father's wealth with her sister...do you think she is willing to help the people of America? She ran a non-profit organization...that she stole drugs from. Please read the NPR article, and you will get a glimpse at the real Cindy McCain.

Hillary to be Nominated
Hillary Hillary Hillary. Or should I be talking to your supporters. Give it up already. I am so tired of this and majority of the American people are tired of it as well. Believe it or not Hillary supporters...America is tired. We are tired of your whining. We are tired of your hijacking the airways with your ignorance. Actually ignorance is not a good word. The poroblem is that your mind is so focused on one thing (that ain't gonna happen) that you can't see anything else. What's the saying....can't see the forest for the trees. Barack has similar values (at least the values Hillary says she has) and similar goals as Hillary. McCain...not so much. But 18% of you still will vote for McCain before Obama. I say to let them go on. We don't need ignorant people like that. I'm just tired....So I'm rambling. I can just imagine Hillary on her hands and knees praying to Satin. Giving up her first born (hey Chells) that she gets enough delagates to be the nominee. But then again, she may surprise. me. I like being surprised.

IF YOU LIKE ______, YOU AND I WON'T GET ALONG
I was just listening to a recording of Bill O'Reilly calling MOVEON.ORG "the klan", and I thought to myself, "if someone likes Bill O'Reilly, we probably would not get along". So I started to think of other people that fit in that category. I attempt to be an open-minded person. So it's not like I can't get a long with someone conservative because I am liberal. But there are people that take things to a total different level. I'm Christian, so I associate with conservative people all the time. Some of my best friends are conservative. lol But here is a list of people that just don't sit well with me. And if they sit well with you, you probably won't like my blog. It's not a list of just conservatives.

3. Fifty Cent - see Judge Judy
4. John McSame - Dumb, bad policies, desperate
5. Cindy McSame - disrespected my bff Michelle Obama

10. Clarence Thomas - I don't know where to begin
11. Justice Scalia - Let's just say he should be called "Injustice Scalia"
12. Ronald Reagan - Do they remember "Reaganomics"? I was in the 1st grade and I do

CBS's Big Brother Doesn't Like Strong Black Women
I really didn't want this blog to be all about race, but I am black and that's a big piece of who I am. And these just so happen to be the things that are bothering me lately. Now...on with my post....
I have been a Big Brother fan since the first season. I haven't missed a season...except that one that came in the middle of the year. It was just a little too...blond hair, blue eyed, 20-29 years old for me. The reason I like the show is because you see how different people of different backgrounds and ages can interact when being cooped up in a house and vying for a small fortune. Well, without fail, the black woman ends up being the enemy. Both with the cast and with the message boards. America doesn't dislike black women.
I think they just dislike strong black women. They like black women who smile, act nice, and pose no threat. This year's black woman is Libra. I was rooting for her in the beginning. I think most of us root for the person that looks like us. It's just our nature. Well, Libra started out from the second episode with an alliance or clique. Nothing wrong with that. But her and her alliance tried to overthrow the top alliance. And she was one of the loudest voices in the upheaval. I personally do not think she was the top voice, but out of sll eight people, she was in three-way tie for the top. I watched the episode with a friend, and remember telling her "she has no chance of winning. She is starting out with attention on her. She's done". After that, she continued to play the game. Whispering and deciding who to target. Was she the only one doing it? No. Was she the main one doing it? No. But the others in the house...and the people on the message boards have made her the main person doing it. If someone said "Jerry is an old turd-head" and she said "yeah"...they would attack her and not even mention the person that made the actual statement. And, without fail, someone on the message boards will ask the question, "do people dislike her because of her race"...and everyone on the message boards will get offended. But it's not just race. It's a mixture of race and gender. The only black guy on the show not only did a 180 on his alliance, but was one of the ones tied with Libra causing the upheaval in the house. Not to mention, he has proven to sell out anybody that's not girl he's currently involved with on the house. But is he on anybody's shit list...not at all. I've began calling it the Michelle Obama Syndrome. LOVE YOU MICHELLE!
If you go to the forum on CBS/Big Brother website...you'll find a few "n" words...not many, but a few. You will also find statements that could be deemed as racist...but only if you are of the race they are addressing, of course. The "n" words don't upset me as much, because we know those people are just hate-mongers. What upsets me are those people that act as if race has nothing to do with their exaggerated view of this woman. Those are the people that have day to day prejudices and can not face it. Those are the dangerous people in society...no matter what race they are. A KKK member has little power in 2008. It's the one that proclaims they are not prejudice but hold all these negative views.

Dumb Chick Elisabeth Hasselbeck
There is nothing I hate more than a narrow minded individual. I am a loyal Barack Obama supporter, but when my man is wrong...I acknowledge it. To not do so would make me ignorant and narrow minded. FISA...I was in Barack's ass. Not literally, but I was on his website voicing my opinion and discussed my disgust with friends. But Elisabeth Hasselbeck is so close minded that she can not see when she is wrong or when her candidate is wrong. She was the same way with George W. Bush...and we all know how that turned out. She doesn't see why her fellow View cohosts say that John McCain is a flip-flopper. ARE YOU SERIOUS! He's went from centralist to far right-winger in a matter of months. But she can see all of Barack's faults. She totally disrespected Senator Obama yesterday when it was revealed that he gave his prayer to reporters in Israel to publish, even though that turned out to be false. Did she admit she was wrong and apologize...NO. That would be too open-minded for her. I really can't stand this broad. I don't like to disrespect women, being that I am one, but she is so ignorant. She always says she prides herself on being informed and aware, but she has spouted so many false-hoods that it’s ridiculous. I am a Christian, a born again Christian. At one point in my life, for about 4 years, I was a believer but I didn't go to church because of Christians like her. I've learned to just pray about it and not let them steal my joy. But people like her make it so hard. Being so close-minded. People like this are what allowed the Holocaust, slavery, and Bush's 8 year term to happen. When you hear people like her talking...do not listen. They will spout incorrect "facts" and try to tell you what is moral and what's immoral. And they will be wrong. I think this chick is a disgrace to the human race. We don't all have to have the same opinion on everything. I totally understand that, but this chick will never admit to being wrong about anything. No one likes a person like that. I seriously hope those kids grow up and get a clue. We don't want two more of this chick on the planet. I've never said "chick" so much in my life. And I don't usually ramble like this, until ignorance upsets me.

BLACK = SLAVE TO FASHION

I was 16 years old. It was my first day of work at McDonald's. I had on my Tommy Hilfiger striped shirt with the traditional American colors that Hilfiger is famous for. This was when he became the IT thing with young black kids...around 1994. In retrospect, it wasn't very cute. Kind of manly even. Not my style at all. I'm a very feminine girl. But I bought it because it was a Tommy Hilfiger. I sported it with my Levi's.
So when I get to McDonald's, they tell me that they don't have my uniform ready and I will have to work in my Tommy Hilfiger shirt. I was not happy, but I did it. It was kind of funny, because people kept asking me questions. When I told them to stop asking me questions on my first day, one guy said "but you have on the shift leader shirt". I barked back "THIS IS NOT A SHIFT LEADER SHIRT. IT IS A TOMMY HILFIGER". From the look on his face...he was impressed. The next shift we shared, he said "aren't you that girl that had on that pretty shirt". Isn't it funny how a name brand can not only make a self-proclaimed girly girl spend money on something that is anything but girly, and also make a McDonald's Shift Leader shirt go from "uniform" to "pretty".
Well, I'm 30 years old now, so it takes more than a name to make me spend my hard earned money. But many people in the black community will spend their last dime to have a name brand...and it's not just the 16 year olds. Why is it that the black community spends so much money on clothes? It makes sense to spend money in direct proportion to the amount of money that you make...but not us. We will make $30,000 a year and have 10 pair of $200 jeans in our closet...AND BRAG ABOUT IT! It's maddening! And you are talking to a girl who loves a deal. I love to talk with my friends about how I bought a pair of Donna Karan shoes for $45...regular price $200, but what I can't stand is talking to someone who brags about buying a pair of Donna Karan shoes. Or those people that get something expensive for a really reasonable price and tries to make you believe they spend full price. But that's neither here nor there. I feel material things like clothes are one of the reasons blacks do not build wealth like others. And by no means is this the only reason...nor is it the top reason. But we have to stop falling for the crap. It is very possible to look nice and not spend all your money on clothes.
WHERE DID THIS COME FROM? Well I was on Mediatakeout. I check them out everyday even thought they anger me without fail. The title of the post was "JADA PINKETT SMITH PHOTO'D PLAYING GOLF ... AND ROCKIN' THIS SEASONS HOTTEST FASHION ACCESSORY - THE GUCCI BELT!!" And they posted a picture of a regular belt. Then there were posts of people saying "you don't have to be rich to buy Gucci. I have a lot of Gucci." And no, you don't have to be rich to buy Gucci, but if you are going to spend $245 on a belt...you should be pretty well off. Yes, that's not a typo. $245! These same people buying this belt have a child with no college fund, don't own a home, and have low credit scores. We have to be more financially savvy than we are.
I have a theory that many of us grew up without the opportunity to own these things...so now we spend all of our money on it. It's just a theory. I was talking to a friend the other day that has a friend that brags about everything from jewels, to furniture, to curtains. She said the friend was telling her about baby furniture that she had ordered and told her "my husband will be so upset when he finds out how much I spent". Being that my friend was tired of hearing monetary figures when she talked to this lady...she didn't even take the bait and ask how much it was. So she says the lady continues to talk about how she spent "too much" on the furniture. My friend just nodded. So finally the lady tells her how much she spent. My friend just said "oh, really". Why do so many of us feel our worth is measured by how much we spend...not how much we have...but how much we spend.
I end this post with this story. I said to a coworker once "you are so dumb". She thought I said "you are so poor" and got very upset. When I told her what I said...she said "oh, I was about to be mad". lol She would rather be considered dumb than being considered poor. Just wake up my people.
